NewsBlack Rebel Motorcycle Club play Camden CrawlBlack Rebel Motorcycle Club played a headlining set tonight (April 19) at the first of their two Camden Crawl gigs. Leading the way at the Underworld venue, the band who headlined the Astoria the night before squeezed into the tiny basement room for the Fallout Records hosted bash. Coming onstage to chants of "Rebel, rebel", the band tore into a relentless, hard driving set that mixed live favourites with their forthcoming fourth album 'Baby 81'. With the likes of 'Whatever Happened To My Rock N Roll (Punk Song)' and 'Stop' triggering a frenzy in the crowd, the band inspired wave upon wave of crowd surfers at the sweaty venue. Having played new song 'Took Out A Loan' from practically the front row - almost having his bass accidentally kicked out of his hands by a stray foot belonging to an enthusiastic surfer - singer Robert Levon Been praised the audience's energy. "You guys are the greatest fuckers, God bless you and maybe see you tomorrow," he declared, referencing the band's second appearance tomorrow (April 20). Earlier The Cooper Temple Clause had been due to play ahead of the headliners, but blaming the old classic of "unforeseen circumstances" the band pulled their appearance and were replaced by DJs. Meanwhile NME.COM will be back in Camden tomorrow (April 20) for the second day of this year's bash, so stay tuned for more. Arctic Monkeys bring new album to London Arctic Monkeys gave London its first glimpse of forthcoming album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' at the first of two sold-out Astoria shows tonight (April 12). The band showcased seven tracks from the eagerly awaited record, which is released on April 23. They were new single 'Brianstorm', 'Balaclava', 'Teddy Picker', 'Do Me A Favour', 'This House Is A Circus', 'Old Yellow Bricks' and 'If You Were There, Beware'. Surprisingly however, proposed future single 'Flourescent Adolescent' was not performed. The 18-song set did also feature a host of crowd-pleasers from 2006 debut LP 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', including the Number One singles 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' and 'When The Sun Goes Down'. Before introducing the former, frontman Alex Turner said to the crowd "It's awful nice to see you again." Though stage banter was kept to a minimum, though Turner later declaring he "didn't give a fuck" after hearing chants from the crowd about London team Tottenham Hotspur being knocked out of the UEFA Cup tonight. The band played: 'If You Found This It's Probably Too Late' 'Brianstorm' 'Still Take You Home' 'Dancing Shoes' 'From The Ritz To The Rubble' 'Balaclava' 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' 'Teddy Picker' 'Do Me A Favour' 'Mardy Bum' 'Fake Tales Of San Francisco' 'This House Is A Circus' 'Old Yellow Bricks' 'If You Were There, Beware' 'The View From The Afternoon' 'You Probably Couldn't See For The Lights But You Were Looking Straight At Me' 'When the Sun Goes Down' 'Leave Before The Lights Come On' 'A Certain Romance' Arctic Monkeys continue the sold-out tour at the same venue tomorrow night (April 13) and then they will play: Liverpool Carling Academy (14) Newcastle Carling Academy (16) Dundee Caird Hall (17) Glasgow Barrowlands (18) Birmingham Carling Academy (20) Sheffield Leadmill (21, 22) Arctic Monkeys, meanwhile, went to Number 11 in the UK singles charts this week with downloads of new song 'Brianstorm' - the physical single is not released until April 16. |
